Our principles
Family owned
GMC will be a family-owned group with a long-term perspective. We unite the business around one common vision, one clear set of values and one unifying slogan: "Consider it done".
Shareholder-controlled
GMC is shareholder-controlled with active and committed boards. Opportunities and challenges should be met with clear action, not postponed.
Sustainable
We will create value for owners, employees, customers and the community around us. Continuous improvement and system values will ensure sustainable operations.
Risk-aware
GMC has a conscious approach to risk. We control and isolate risk, and avoid following short-term trends or fads.
GMC – More than just three letters
The name GMC stands for Gunnar Magne Christensen, who founded the company in 1973 with family and friends. What started as a small mechanical workshop in Stavanger has grown into a group with operations in both industry and real estate – still owned and operated by the family.
Today, GMC represents not only a local industrial history, but a mindset that is about creating value through creativity, realism, courage and ethics. With the family still closely involved in the operation and development, GMC is as much a name as it is a responsibility.

Goals and strategy
Growth and profitability
We will be a profitable company with a clear growth strategy. We actively and continuously invest in people, technology and equipment to ensure continued development.
Expansion with reason
We maintain our current activities while using our position to expand. We focus on areas of growth and profitability, primarily by following our customers.
Local anchoring
We will continue our strong local connection. Close follow-up in our geographical vicinity gives GMC valuable insight and creates good results.
Full or partial ownership
We are open to part-ownership in new or existing businesses, although we most often own 100% of our own companies.
Employees and working environment
Our employees are our most important resource. GMC will actively work to create well-being, motivation and development, both personally and professionally.
We want to be a responsible and attractive employer, with the ability to attract and retain the most talented people. At GMC, it should be fun and safe to go to work, and employees should be proud of their workplace. This is how we build a work culture that is characterized by trust, commitment and common goals.

Consider it done!
"Consider it done" is more than a slogan - it's a promise. At GMC, it's about delivering on our promises, taking responsibility from start to finish, and finding solutions where others see challenges. With extensive experience and interdisciplinary expertise, we ensure that assignments are carried out safely, efficiently and properly.

Local ownership and philosophy
As a locally owned company, GMC has, since its inception, emphasized closeness to the local community, close relationships with customers, and a long-term horizon.

“GMC’s journey began at a time when the shipping industry was stagnant, but with the right people and the ability to see opportunities, the company grew rapidly. In this film, founder Gunnar Magne Christensen shares insights into how chance, talented employees and a culture of adaptation have shaped GMC into the industrial group it is today.”

GMC places great emphasis on sustainability and social responsibility. We continuously work to optimize production processes and land use, while adopting new technology to promote energy efficiency and resource conservation. In addition, we work closely with local authorities, organizations and educational institutions to create healthy communities and safe workplaces.
We believe that genuine corporate social responsibility involves more than just words – it is about making responsible choices every day, so that both our industrial and real estate businesses continue to be a positive force for people and the environment.

How we support the local community
GMC's social commitment is not only about what we do at work, but also about what we contribute outside of it. Within Norwegian sports and other important development arenas for children and young people, volunteer work is an important pillar.
Our sponsorship practice means that we support clubs, sports teams and voluntary organizations with financial resources in which our employees are involved. This is our way of thanking people for the important work they do for children and young people in the local community.
