Fixing the ferry ready for Christmas
Last week, the ferry MF Boknafjord collided with the quay in Mortavika. The ferry sustained damage to the bow and is now in a repair shop at GMC in Mekjarvik.

– The extent of the damage is not that great, the ferry is now docked at the workshop and is ready for Christmas, said Tor Kristoffersen, regional manager at Fjord 1, to Aftenbladet on Friday, December 9.
At 7:30 p.m. on Thursday last week, the ferry crashed into the quay in Mortavika as it was about to dock.
– The collision caused some minor damage to some of the cars on board. We experience such collisions extremely rarely, and we have now reviewed our routines to ensure that this will not happen again, says Kristoffersen.

On track before Christmas
– We are now repairing the damage to the bow, the damage is not that big so there is no doubt that the ferry will be ready by Christmas, says Bjørnar Rosenkilde Knutsen, general manager of GMC Martime and responsible for the repair of the ferry.
Project managers Rene Adjemi and Stein Finnesand are working on the technical details.
– The hull suffered damage that we are repairing in our workshop here in Mekjarvik, says Adjemi.
– The fact that the ferry is out of service now will not affect Christmas traffic, we have put in a reserve ferry that goes to MF Boknafjord and is ready – and it doesn't look like it will be for long, says Kristoffersen in Fjord 1.
