The GMC team at the Kårstø processing plant
The Kårstø processing plant is the largest of its kind in Europe. The plant plays a key role in the transport and processing of gas and oil from important areas on the Norwegian continental shelf. GMC ensures the safe and secure operation of the HVAC systems at the plant.

– We are personnel here from GMC HVAC and GMC Power & Automation. At most, there are ten of us working here. Here we are responsible for the safe and secure operation of cooling and ventilation at the facility. If there is a fault with the HVAC systems, we quickly respond and ensure that we are quickly back to normal operation, says Ronny Haukås Haga, Site Manager at GMC.
We meet Ronny Haukås Haga for a tour and review of safety at the facility. In the administration building we go through safety rules, the correct use of protective equipment and practical information about the facility. Here, Always Safe applies. An HSE concept with different themes each quarter, for this quarter the theme is avoiding personal injury.

– When we work here at the facility, we can assist the customer (Equinor) quickly and efficiently. If a ventilation system in the area stops – at the weekend, for example – we will be there anyway, says Ronny Haukås Haga.

The number of people from GMC working in the processing plant varies. With a permanent base staff of four people in addition to a refrigeration technician who starts in August. They share the office facilities with companies such as Crane Norway, Vassbakk & Stol, Kaefer and Aibel.
