Today we warmly welcome Chris Pedersen as the new Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in GMC Holding AS.
Chris comes from the role of Finance Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis at ORLEN Upstream Norway, and brings solid experience in finance, analysis and business management. He also holds a master's degree in economics and administration from the University of Stavanger (UiS).
Further development in a growing group
GMC is growing well, and the finance department has an important role in supporting the group. For CEO Thomas Vang, it is therefore important that the new CFO can both build on what has already been established, and at the same time look for new opportunities.
"We are in a phase where GMC is developing further as a group. We need a CFO who can both safeguard what has been built up over time and at the same time challenge us on how we can work smarter and better in the future," says CEO, Thomas Vang.
For Chris, it was the combination of local roots, ownership and the opportunity to contribute to further development that made GMC interesting.
"Being CFO of GMC is quite big for me. It is a locally rooted group with local ownership, and I find it exciting to be part of the further development," says Pedersen.
Will become well acquainted with the group
As the new CFO, Chris will have overall responsibility for finance and accounting at GMC. He will lead the finance department and work closely with the group management, the board and the various companies in the group.
The first few months will therefore be a lot about getting to know the business, the companies, and the people in the organization.
"I want to get to know the companies and look at their needs. We need to continue the good growth GMC has had so far this year, while also finding new approaches that can lift us even further," says Pedersen.
An important part of the new role will also be leading and further developing the finance department.
"It is important for me to preserve the good culture that exists in the department. At the same time, I want to bring a fresh look and new perspectives."
Ready for the next chapter
For Chris, the initial period is primarily about understanding GMC well and getting to know the organization.
"I'm looking forward to getting to know the people at GMC and getting a good understanding of the business. There are a lot of exciting things happening in the group, and I look forward to being part of the journey," says Pedersen.
Welcome to GMC, Chris!
