GMC opens new hall in Mekjarvik

– We have had an opening party for the entire GMC, and now we are soon ready to invite customers and partners to the opening event.

The hall doubles capacity, making it possible to carry out projects of a larger scale than before. There will be plenty of space to take on larger and more extensive assignments, in everything from ship servicing, steel fabrication, machining and repair.

First signs of GMC's plans in Mekjarvik

For the industrial group GMC, these are the first signs of what plans have been made for Mekjarvik.

CEO Thomas A. Vang says that the new welding hall taking shape is one of the first visible signs of GMC's plan for Mekjarvik:

– We have very specific plans for how we will use the excellent facilities we have out here. We are playing well with the players with whom we are co-located today, and will next attract new customers and partners who will join us on this journey. We look forward to seeing activity in the new hall, and it is gratifying to hear that our customers appreciate this.

– The construction has been carried out by a dedicated team of experts who have designed the facility to meet the needs of the deepwater quay just outside. From the foundation to the last details, we have prioritized indoor climate, safety and optimal performance, says Bjørnar Rosenkilde Knutsen.

New welding hall:

• 1150 sq m and a doubling of capacity
• Direct access to 500 meters of ISPS deepwater quay
• Crane capacity in the hall of 2 x 20 tons
