Some good advice from a retiring electrician
Paul Lande turned 70 last year, and is ready to pass the baton on and continue with his great passion: building radio stations from scratch. Here you get some good advice from Lande about safety at work.

Three pieces of advice from Paul
1) Ask ! It is very important to ask when you are unsure, and it is absolutely necessary. Remember that what you know best and do most often are situations that most often lead to accidents.
2) Safety first – always. People need to get home safely and the safety of employees always comes first. Whether they are on board ships or offshore.
3) Be present. As a manager, it is important to be where it is happening, be where the employees work.
Safety is paramount
– The margins in this profession are small, and electricians complete annual FSE courses in safety and first aid.
Paul Lande has worked in the electrical industry for 50 years, and is an electrical installer at GMC Power & Automation. He has been with the company for 18 years, and now he is ready to continue with a very technical hobby.
Paul has been a licensed electrician since 1986. Today he has four grandchildren, a boat and sailboat, and a cabin in Vindafjorden.
– Paul has been a key person for GMC Power & Automation for many years. He has solid expertise and a long experience as an electrical installer. I have an incredible amount of respect for Paul, both in the job he does and not least as a person. We all do in the company. Now we wish him all the best for the future, and try to learn everything we can from him before he leaves us, says Kenneth Eichner, General Manager of GMC Power & Automation.
Building radio stations
When Paul turned 56 and had a little more free time, he started building radio stations. Exactly like the radio stations for SEO agents were during World War II.
– I buy parts from all over the world, and I have contacts. I mostly get the radio tubes from the Norwegian Radio Historical Association – in addition to eBay. You can't do a hobby like this without a 3D printer and a kneading bench.
It took three years to build an identical copy of one of the radio stations on display at Haugesund Museum.
Paul took the radio station to the museum when he was going to give a lecture.
– The curator who works there was completely distraught and couldn't understand how I had managed to get the radio station out of the exhibition, Paul laughs.
It has become a book, and several lectures.

The baton passes on
According to Paul, a new electrical installer at GMC will be working…
... in a versatile job where you build broad expertise and professional weight.
...in an exciting company in an industrial group with great potential for growth.
...with skilled fitters. Kenneth Gjerstad and Eirik Smistad know the industry well.
... in a family-owned group with interested owners with long-term ownership.
...in a company with good leadership and a short path to decisions if you have suggestions for improvement.
