Stavanger company gets giant contract with the Armed Forces

GMC, through GMC Yard AS, has been awarded a framework agreement with the Norwegian Armed Forces for the classification and maintenance of the Norwegian Armed Forces' logistics vessel KNM “Maud”. The framework agreement has a duration of seven years including options, and has a total budget of NOK 600 million.

Initially, KNM "Maud" will undergo class renewal.

– GMC will be responsible for classification, maintenance and other upgrades to the ship in the coming years, which we look forward to getting started on, says Per Ingolf Jøsang, CEO of GMC Yard.

Largest in the Navy's fleet

KNM "Maud" is the Navy's logistics ship, and is the largest in the Navy's fleet.

"The framework agreement will help strengthen the Norwegian Armed Forces' operational capability and readiness through increased capacity for maintenance and upgrade services, and associated engineering support by giving the Norwegian Armed Forces access to such services in peace, crisis, conflict and war," a press release states.

The parties have entered into a framework agreement for the delivery of ship technical maintenance services, repairs, upgrades and modifications to KNM "Maud".
GMC is a family-owned industrial group that was established in Stavanger in 1973. The group operates within the maritime service industry and delivers services to vessels, rigs and land facilities. The industrial group consists of six companies. The group has an annual turnover of between 600 and 700 million kroner and has 200 employees.
