Normand Cutter in dock for installation of new ROV system and 25-year reclassification
Normand Cutter is undergoing both a 25-year reclassification and a major installation of a new ROV system at the GMC shipyard.
GMC Power & Automation and GMC Yard have completed an extensive project on board the Normand Cutter.
As part of the class work, GMC Power & Automation performed a number of electrical engineering tasks, including cleaning and rewiring of panels, testing of protection and switches, and disconnecting and connecting thruster motors and engine room fans.
At the same time, the installation of a new ROV system on board was underway. A previously empty space is being converted into a dedicated ROV room, and GMC Power & Automation is responsible for the electrical infrastructure that will ensure stable operation of the system.
The work includes routing and installing fiber cables for data transmission, establishing network solutions and connecting I/O signals that provide communication between the various systems on board. In addition, new power and control cables are being installed to supply the ROV system and associated equipment.
All power supply and communications are routed from a new control room, where distribution is via the vessel's main switchboard. This involves extensive cabling and integration with existing systems on board.
